How can you help?

I know a lot of you want to help out or volunteer and stuff, so I thought it would be interesting to  give you guys a list of sites that you can take a look in to if you want to help out.

The first (and personally my favourite) is http://www.volunteermatch.org. Why is it my favourite, you might be asking? Well firstly, it’s really easy to navigate through it and secondly if you don’t have time or money to actually go into various countries and train people or volunteer there are online volunteer opportunities as well!

We all spend so much time online, the least we can do is actually go and volunteer a few hours a week and help others out.

For those of you in the UK, this site will help you out quite a bit: http://www.volunteering.org.uk/

Pretty cool, right?

Now let’s get enthusiastic about helping others out! It’s not just about helping yourself. =D

Stuck for accomodation in London?

So, if you’ve traveled to London – you know for a fact, never leave your accommodation to a thing of “chance”. I speak from personal experience when I say that the next time I’m traveling down there , if I don’t have a friends place to stay at, I’m definitely going to be doing my booking in advance. How do you find your way around one of the biggest and busiest cities in the entire world?

Take a peek at www.hotelshopuk.com and feel safe in knowing you won’t have to spend hours looking for a specific destination. This website has it all nicely planned out for you and it’s easily navigated.

Finding hotels in London UK has never been easier people! So go a’searching and have some fun doing it.

Love is a fickle thing.

It's amusing how people pussy foot around each other when they are not in relationships - sometimes even when they are in relationships.

I have one relationship in mind now, I don't want the people to know so I'll just call the people in the first relationship "Dick and Tracy".

In the beginning Dick didn't want Tracy. She scared him. Now she excites him. In the beginning, Tracy wanted DIck so much she was considered (by me) as acting a weeeee bit stalkerish and scary. Now she's nonchalent about him and they are tip toeing around each other. When I confront each one separetly, the usual excuse comes about first, "We're just friends!" and then - "He/She doesn't like me."

Yet they spend almost more time together then Danie and I can manage in a week. LOL! Why don't they just get together and get it over and done with?

I know - I did the same thing right? But Tracy and Dick have been doing it much longer then Danie and I ever managed. >.< Come on Dick! Just do it and get it over with. LOL.

PPP & Reality TV?

The concept to me seems a little risqué. I love Payperpost and I enjoy watching their escapades, so to speak from time to time but to dedicate an entire site just to the little video inserts they usually placed on their blog seems a little too much to me. Don’t get me wrong – if people want to sit down and roam through the site and watch the entire thing, that’s really up to them but it’s definitely a site I won’t be visiting often just so I can see the Days of Posties Lives.

It’s not that I don’t want to; it’s just that it really doesn’t interest me in the greater scheme of things, if you understand what I’m saying. Why would I take ten minutes out of my day to watch something that doesn’t pertain to me or to the actually “running” of PPP at most times. Its just that I’m so busy that my usual day just goes off to checking opps, posting a bit, MSNing and then rushing off to do real life stuff!

The whole layout of the website is gorgeous though. It’s easily understood and one can quickly manage to find their way through the entire website. I even found some of the text amusing.

Maybe the reality tv bit should have been left for a later date. But at the moment, I just don’t find the additional benefit of it.

Specially like the pirate touch ;)

Get off your darn high horse you powermonger.

"Zimbabwe's ruling party are expected to endorse a plan to extend Robert Mugabe's presidency until 2010 as they meet at their annual conference. " BBC Reports.

I couldn't believe this when I watched this on TV and later read through BBC's report on Mugabe's actual endorsement to extend his rule. Zimbabwe used to be one of Africa's most prosperous lands and now it's falling into degradation and poverty. He's been ruling for 28 years. Now he wants to extend that to 30 years? Is he crazy? I'm sure he is ladies and gentlemen.

He has done nothing for Zimbabwe and the people. Nothing.

"He says he is the victim of a western plot to bring him down because of opposition to his seizure of white-owned land. "

Oh please - give me a break. Of course people would oppose it. His actions were completely racist in every form of the word. And thankfully we now live in a world it doesn't matter to which colour you are being racist - you cant be racist.

I can't wait to see him out of power. Only then will Zimbabwe be able to rise.

We gotta love it...

I know a lot of you don’t love Payperpost – but honestly, how can you not? You get paid to talk about products, things, you love and I’m going to do the same thing for Payperpost.

Since I’ve started on Payperpost, I’ve made about $277 and the only reason it’s that small is because since I’ve moved back to South Africa I’ve been struggling to actually get any online time. But that’s going to change.

I’ve realized what a reliable source of income this can become for me and I’m definitely not going to let it go now.

So join up! I know you want to.

You know you want to get paid to blog!

Curing Homosexuality?

So, I was speaking to my friend today and he said something that disturbed me. He said, “When I was six years old – I decided NOT to be gay.” This friend has always had female relationship problems, when he’s even had a girlfriend so when he told me this I couldn’t help but feel three of the following emotions:

1. Surprise
2. Realization
3. Worry

Each one followed after the other. I didn’t say it to my friend at the time but I believe he’s just in denial about being gay. Yes, if he thinks he decided not to be gay but thought he was for a time – then aren’t you ultimately gay and just too afraid to admit it? It’s sad about the way the world treats gays and lesbians, as if they are something to be ashamed of when they are just normal human beings like you and me.

Now – I remembered something about gay “cleansing” and decided to see if something like that still existed. Sadly to say there are still people who are being lead to believe that being a homosexual is something that can be cured. I saw a fantastic article on “The Facts About "Ex-Gays” and this is some interesting things they had to say.

7. To illustrate just how wacky the "science" is that's backing the ex-gay proponents, these are a few of the things that they say causes people to turn out gay:
· Masturbation
· Pornography
· Spousal abuse in the home
· Effects of the media/culture
· Parental adultery
· Moral relativism
· Seduction by peers
· Nearsightedness
· Hearing loss
· Chemical imbalances
· Parents parading nude around the house
· Poor hand-eye coordination
· Generational curse
· Intrauterine trauma - "If the mother was experiencing difficulty in her relationships with her husband while carrying the child or if she felt rejected, unloved, or unwanted by him or she experienced any other painful feelings during pregnancy."

These anti-homosexual scientists actually believe that these causes can create homosexual behaviour but let us take a look for a moment at some of these points.

- Masturbation: Claiming that masturbation creates a homosexual behaviour is almost laughable. I believe I saw once that almost 60% of males masturbate and almost 40% of woman masturbate. If we used this as an excuse for causing homosexuality then almost half of the worlds population should be gay. And we’re not.
- Pornography: I have a lot of male friends. A lot of straight male friends who watch porn like it’s a cereal commercial. Blaming homosexuality on pornography is almost as bad as masturbation. I can’t decide which one is worse.
- Hearing Loss: What does losing your hearing have to do with anything? People can be deaf and straight. For some reason I had a visual image of a commercial “I can’t hear but that’s why I’m gay.” With a cheesy smiling guy holding another guy. Give me a break!
- Parents parading nude around the house: My parents have never been shy about nudeness. Both of my brothers are straight. These people are just grabbing onto straws in my personal opinion.
- Intrauterine trauma: Has got to be my favourite excuse. Let’s just muse on this one and laugh a while….

8. And these are a few of the ways the ex-gay experts "cure" gay people and make them heterosexual:
· Men should play sports
· Men practice going fishing, women practice putting on make-up
· Men are taught to sit the right way, no crossed legs
· Men are taught not to stand with their hand on their hip
· Take away a man's Calvin Klein clothes and Barbra Streisand records
· Men should avoid extreme sarcastic behavior
· Men should wear short business-like haircuts
· Show a gay man photos of nude men while placing rotted hamburger meat under his nose - he will then associated repulsion with same-sex attraction
· The laying of hands on a gay man in front of the assembled church congregation
· Reading a specific prayer over your gay child to list his "generational curse"
· Forcibly abduct gay teens in their sleep, handcuff them, and send them to military boot camps where they are forced to march 20 miles a day with weights on their backs (this is a true, and horrible, story).

(The full article can be found at
http://www.hatecrime.org/exgay.html [Please support them if you are able to])

And now if you really want to laugh the above segment might just make you realize with what ignorant, selfish and stupid people some young boys and men have to deal with in order to prove that they are not gay anymore. Gosh, what sort of sordid people allow their children to believe that just because they are gay that they are lesser then?

It’s so sad. So sad.

This post is in memorial of Matthew Shepard who died six years ago from a brutal attack by anti-gay activists. If you haven’t seen a site dedicated to his death please take a look here:
http://members.aol.com/arisiaart/Matt1.html

If you are gay and are not sure of how to deal with the strain, I suggest a few sites that might help you feel more comfortable with yourself and coming out of the closet.

Another puzzle piece...

So, PPP continues to tease us with this darn puzzle. In case you don't know what PPP is - it's called Payperpost. You basically blog about products you find interesting or like and get paid for it :) Simple as that, easy, right?

Anyway, last time they had a puzzle worth $1000 but now they have one for $500 - I know there is NO chance I'll ever make it in time but it's fun seeing how everyone rushes after them.

Blegh, what I could do with $500... *mouth waters*

Here is another piece, 108:

Let's all scream for the "payperpostbluemonster".

Blegh, annoying parents!

The Fish - Blogger.

So, every since I started with Payperpost I’ve been spending a lot more time reading through blogs, what’s happening in the blogging world and trying to just learn more. It’s weird that now I have quite a few favourited blogs that I go and check up on every day. The newest blog that I haven’t been able to not notice is called The Fish. It’s a really interesting blog and I’ve read through a few of the entries that catch my interest.

The journal, in a nut shell, is a business blog that focuses around Mark’s upcoming business venture called Repliqa. He says on his journal, it’s going to “reshape your interaction with the internet’ … so I am kind of wondering when it will be released. This is definitely one blog you want to keep your eyes on.

Rape, corruption - what do you get? Celebrity.

Well, Jacob Zuma was the ex-vice president of South Africa before corruption charges forced our current President Thabo Mbeki to take him out of power - however, since then, his popularity has only INCREASED.

He's been accused of rape, which he was found not guilty for and he still has loads of corruption charges hanging on his head. Yet South Africa newspaper seem to be giving him A LOT of coverage.

I can't believe Mail and Guardian are actually giving him his own section with all his "news" reports. How pathetic is that? And the M&G is a newspaper I really respect in South Africa so this move is highly disappointing for me.

Ethical Banking?

Well, I’ve been looking around at a website which claims they are ethical bankers. I haven’t heard about them before so I’m unsure of Ethical Banking but I decided to look around regardless for the following reasons.

I’ve been wanting to get an offshore account for quite a while. However, most of the banks overseas needs a minimum of $5000 or $10000 and I frankly do not have that type of money and I would need to save for at least a year for me to gather that amount of money to actually open an account.

Any who, so I decided to take a look at the bank and see what they offer. The first thing I HAD to notice was the Student Accounts which really is affordable and looks quite profitable in the long time.

So yes, I was VERY much interested until I was taking a glance through the terms and conditions and found out I wasn’t even liable to apply for an “online” account.

Extracted from their website:

“1. ACCOUNT BASICS
1.1 To open and maintain an account you must:
be a UK Citizen and resident or:
if you are a foreign national you must have been a UK resident for a minimum of 3 years
be over 17 years and 6 months in full time education, an under or post graduate student, including mature students and existing students
pay an initial payment into your account of over £100. ”

What really annoys me about this is how they claim they are a completely online bank account and yet they only offer their services to UK citizens or full-time students in the UK.

When am I going to find a offshore account that doesn’t expect so damn much? Oh but if you’re living in England and are interested, take a look at their “ethical” insurance policy… Ethical Insurance

Now, despite all of this - I couldn't help but take a look through their policies and I must say that I am impressed. Despite the fact that I feel a little back stabbed that only UK residents can apply for this! They will not sponsor someone who does not hold basic human rights in a high regard and I have to applaud them for this. For the first time a bank puts people rights before money :)

PPP Blue Monster 6

So, PPP is amazingly enoug hosting another competiton - can you believe how generous they are being? However, this time the whole competition is just for $500 but that's still $500 more then I have! This time I'm really going to work for it - w00t w00t w00t.

Anyway, they gave us a clue to what the thing looks like... this is the six Blue Monster Puzzle Piece....

I'm really hoping I'll be able to make this puzzle myself. I'm literally drooling for a new laptop and this $500 would come in handy... I'd be able to buy me one of those really expensive laptops for $800 - $1000 and only needing to actually save $500 while the other $500 is literally given to me gift wrapped!

Hopes all mine!

blog

Wheeeee! Bring on the payperpostbluemonster puzzle! I'm ready baby!
